The Rise

At 17, I invented LED bottle stickers in my basement.

Stick them under bottles, the liquid glows. Nightclubs loved them.

By 21, I was supplying 500 bars across America and Europe. Monaco. Ibiza. About to sign a deal for 100,000 units a month.

Then a London corporation with 500 patents and a legal team that could bury me in paperwork decided my invention was theirs.

I lost everything. My business. My savings. My girlfriend of seven years. All of it.

Rock Bottom

So there I was at 22.

Living in a basement apartment with a mattress on the floor, a laptop older than some of my beliefs, and a camping chair I'd found in my dad's garage.

That was my furniture. That was my life.

I got a job as a door-to-door salesman. Selling internet and TV packages I didn't believe in to people who didn't want them. Making maybe $600–900 a month.

My grocery budget was $50 a week. My credit card had $4,000 on it. My savings account had less than $100.

The voice in my head

You're not cut out for this.

You peaked at 21 and it's all downhill from here.

Remember Monaco? Remember when you had a real business? That was cute.

Why even try? You're just going to fail again.

Every night I'd come home, trying to control my impulses to self-destruct — smoking, drinking, anything to shut the voice up.

Sometimes it worked. Most times it didn't.

The Voice Recorder

One night, out of pure desperation, I did something that felt completely ridiculous.

I grabbed an old voice recorder, locked myself in my room, and recorded five minutes of affirmations.

▶“I am travelling the world.”

▶“I am running a successful online business.”

▶“I am making over $10,000 a month.”

▶“I am confident.”

▶“I am bigger than my problems.”

Then I put it on loop. Everywhere. In my car driving to work. While I slept. When I woke up. All day long.

I bought fake $100 bills from China and plastered them on my walls. Post-it notes on my fridge, my coffee machine, my bathroom mirror.

My actual affirmation wall.

And at first? It pissed me off.

3 Weeks of Hell

“I am financially free.”

No, you're not. You literally just bought ramen in bulk.

“I am confident.”

Really? You got three doors slammed in your face today.

“I travel the world.”

Your world is a basement and a camping chair.

I felt like a fraud. A broke guy muttering delusions while eating instant noodles.

But I had nothing else. No plan B. No backup.

So I kept pressing play.

The Shift

After three weeks, something shifted.

I went to work and closed three sales. $485 in commission. The next day, three more.

Then something weirder happened. One night, cleaning files on my laptop, I found an old Shopify theme I'd built during my previous business.

A year earlier, I would have deleted it. But this time, I started looking at it differently.

The new voice

“I focus on opportunities. I trust myself.”

So I hired a developer. Started building. Launched it.

The first two customers hated it. Both wanted refunds.

One guy said he'd give me one week. Fix it, or he wanted his $99 back.

I paid $4,000 to fix a product for a customer who had paid me $99.

Make it make sense.

Cha-Ching

That Friday, I sent the fixed file without even testing it. Then I panicked.

I drove an hour and a half to my grandfather's house in the middle of nowhere. No cell service. No internet.

I spent the weekend hiding from reality like a coward.

Sunday evening, I drove home. As soon as I hit cell service...

I didn't get lucky. I didn't find a mentor. I didn't read a secret book or attend a magic seminar.

The only thing that changed
was the voice in my head.

I replaced what it was saying with something different. I repeated it so many times that the new voice became louder than the old one.

I didn't change my circumstances to change my thinking.

I changed my thinking to change my circumstances.

The Realization

As I met people from all walks of life around the world, I realized something:

I wasn't the only one dealing with negative thoughts.

We ALL have that annoying inner voice that never shuts up.

If we want to create a better world, we need to start with the voice inside our heads.
